DEPUTIES ARREST FOUR IN OVERNIGHT HOME INVASION – 7/5/2016 12:55 PM

Ascension Parish Sheriff’s deputies arrested four people in connection with a Sunday morning home invasion in St. Amant with one unidentified suspect still at large.

According to Lt. Col. Ward Webb, at approximately 3:30 a.m. deputies responded to a residence on Highway 936 in reference to a home invasion that sent a victim to a nearby hospital where he was treated for his injuries and released.

As the investigation continued it was learned that approximately five suspects made entry into the residence through an unlocked door; two of the suspects were wearing skimasks and all suspects were armed with handguns.

Nothing was reported stolen but the suspects were looking for drugs that were supposedly in the residence. The suspects got into a physical altercation with the victim and a gun discharged inside the residence striking the ceiling.

Prior to deputies arrival, three of the suspects fled on foot but were located a short while later in Sorrento.

Brockton Waguespack, 19, of 12133 Stringer Bridge Road, St. Amant, was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder, aggravated assault with a firearm, aggravated battery, home invasion, contributing to the delinquency of juveniles, and illegal carrying of weapons.

Reid Taber, 18, of 8504 Pertuis Road, St. Amant, was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder, aggravated assault with a firearm, aggravated battery, home invasion, contributing to the delinquency of juveniles, and illegal carrying of weapons.

Daryl Mitchell Jr., 18, of 16082 Feleciana Ave., Prairieville, was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder, aggravated assault with a firearm, aggravated battery, home invasion, contributing to the delinquency of juveniles, and illegal carrying of weapons.

All were booked into the Ascension Parish Jail where no bond has been set yet.

A 16-year-old juvenile was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder, aggravated assault with a firearm, aggravated battery, home invasion, illegal carrying of  weapons, and illegal possession of guns by juvenile. He was booked into the St. Bernard Parish Detention Center.
