Lt. Col. Cody Melancon
Lt. Col. Cody Melancon began his career at the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office in 1995 as a 911 Dispatcher and also served in the uniform patrol and warrants divisions. He is currently the commander of the hazardous materials team and a supervisor of the Administrative Services Division. In these duties he oversees the Communications Division, Internal Affairs, Domestic Violence, Hiring, Programs, Extra Duty Details, and Sex Offender Registration and Compliance. In addition, he manages all construction related activities within the department and is a team leader for the Mobile Field Force Unit.
Lt. Col. Melancon graduated from the LSU Basic Training Academy in 1998, and is also a graduate of the Leadership Ascension Program sponsored by the Ascension Chamber of Commerce. He completed the Command and Control of Incident Operations certification program at the National Fire Academy in Emmetsburg, Maryland and the Advanced Tactical Leadership Firefighting Training and Corporate Fire School at Texas Engineering Extension Service (A member of The Texas A&M University System). He holds numerous certifications and is an instructor through the F.B.I. Instructor Development Course.
Lt. Col. Melancon grew up in Prairieville and now resides in Dutchtown with his wife, Sabrina, and their two daughters, Brianna and Kaley.
