Major Benny Delaune began his career with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office in 1977. He was assigned to the patrol division until 1984 when he transferred to the detective division. In 1988, he was promoted to the rank of Detective Sergeant. In 1992 Major Delaune was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and placed over the Criminal Investigations Division. He was promoted to the rank of Captain in 1998 and to his current rank of Major in 2000. Major Delaune currently oversees the Criminal Investigations Division, Juvenile Division, and Narcotics Division of the department. In addition, Traffic and East Side Patrol Divisions report to Major Delaune.

 

Major Delaune has been a P.O.S.T./F.B.I. certified firearms instructor since 1990 and has served as a member of the departments Crises Response Team (SWAT) since it’s inception in 1993.

 

Major Delaune is married to the former Kittye Brown and they have three children, Megan, Aaron and Brady.
