Col. Tony Bacala
Chief Deputy


Chief Deputy Tony Bacala is a lifelong resident of Ascension Parish. He is a graduate of East Ascension High School and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from LSU. He is a graduate of numerous law enforcement training programs including the LSU Law Enforcement Institute, the Mississippi Command College, and the F.B.I. National Academy.
 
Chief Deputy Bacala began his law enforcement career as a patrolman with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office in 1977. In 1980, he was promoted to detective and rose through the ranks of the Detective Division. In 1988, he was promoted to the rank of captain and was placed in charge of the Detective, Juvenile, and Narcotics divisions. In 1996, while holding the rank of Major, he was placed in charge of the Sheriff’s Office Civil Division and was trusted with the financial oversight of the department. In 2000, Bacala was promoted to his current position of Chief Criminal Deputy.
 
Chief Bacala is married to Lisa Faucheux Bacala who is employed by the Ascension Parish School Board and spent many years as a teacher and assistant principal at East Ascension High School. Lisa is currently the Supervisor of Secondary Education for Ascension Parish. Tony and Lisa have three children: Anthony, Aaron, and Angelica. Anthony is a currently a student at LSU; Aaron is in the United States Marine Reserves and is deployed in Iraq; Angelica is a senior in high school and will graduate from Dutchtown in May of 2009 and plans to attend Southeastern University in the Fall of 2009.
 
Chief Bacala is a member of the Board of Directors of the Ascension parish Sales and Use Tax Authority, which monitors sales tax collection. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Capital District Law Enforcement Planning Council, which reviews and recommends the awarding of law enforcement grants within the state. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Donaldsonville and currently serves as the club’s President. And, he is also a member of the Louisiana Chapter of the FBI National Academy Associates and was recently elected as an officer of that organization.
