The Criminal Warrants Office of the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office is responsible for the service of all criminal warrants and any other documents of arrest. In any given year over 4000 warrants were served by this division.
Do you know a wanted Person? If you know the whereabouts of any wanted person, do not take action on your own. Call the Warrants Unit at 225-621-8308 or 225-621-8317.
Are you a wanted person? If there is an outstanding warrant for your arrest, we will, as a courtesy, allow you to turn yourself in at the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Your bail may be posted by cash or surety after your paperwork has been processed.

If the charge against you is a misdemeanor, a summons may be issued.

The Warrant for your arrest has been entered into the statewide computer system. It is probable that any contact with a law enforcement officer will result in your immediate arrest and incarceration.

If you fail to turn yourself in, this matter will be resolved at our convenience. A deputy sheriff will take whatever measures are necessary to locate you and execute the warrant for your arrest.

The Court Security Division is comprised of eight security officers who provide protection for the Courthouse in Donaldsonville as well as the Courthouse in Gonzales. This unit is responsible for the security of the courts as well as building security while court is in session.
With the increase in violent crimes occurring within courthouses throughout the nation, the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office is dedicated to providing the judicial branch and the citizens involved in the court system, with the ability to conduct their business without interruption and in as safe an environment as possible.
According to the National institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), justice and professional public establishments are at high-risk for, violence. They claim, employees in these high-risk establishments and occupations need to be aware of the risk and take steps to ensure a safe workplace. In an effort to make the courthouse safer for all employees and visitors, the Sheriff's Office has begun securing all entrances to the court rooms. For the safety and well being of every employee and visitor to the facility, every person who enters the court rooms will be screened through magnetometers. This process is no different than that of passing through airport security and will not pose significant delays in entering Court. The Sheriff's Office anticipates that the implementation of magnetometers may cause delays in entering the court rooms, but are prepared for the change, you can help ease the process.
The Civil Unit is responsible for all civil process. The Civil Office is responsible for seizure of property and movables generated by court actions, and service of civil documents that are issued by the court. These civil papers, include, civil, criminal, witness subpoenas, divorce actions, child support, custody petitions, evictions, warrants in debt, and juvenile petitions, just to name a few. Each year the Civil Office served thousands of civil documents.
