Tips for Stalking Victims
|
The definition of a stalker is one who maliciously, willfully, and repeatedly follows or harasses another person and who makes a credible threat to place that person in fear of his or her safety.
The following should be considered:

Stalking is the offender’s decision, NOT your fault.

Always call the police and file a crime report

Get a temporary restraining order. Get copies and give to relatives, friends, coworkers and your employer.

Keep a log or diary of current and past events. Hide the log in a safe place.

Keep your original crime case number with you. If other family members or friends are victimized by the stalker advise them to telephone police and file a report |
Safety Tips:

Change locks on home & car

Never walk alone
-
Lock vehicle doors

Use alternate routes each day that you travel

Park your vehicle in well lit areas

Always check front and rear passenger areas before entering your vehicle

Be alert for vehicles following you
-
Know locations of police and fire stations
-
Alert your neighbors
-
Show photograph of suspect to neighbors if possible
-
Avoid common places of the offender if possible
-
Keep emergency bag packed with clothing, money, emergency telephone numbers, and toys for children if needed |
