Rifle & Pistol Range Safety Regulations

  1. Instructions of the Range Officer must be followed at all times.

  2. Upon arrival, shooters will place their weapons in the rack, unloaded, with the action open, until assigned to a shooting table. It is the shooter’s responsibility to ensure that all weapons are in safe working order and that only quality ammunition of the proper caliber is used.

  3. Firing may begin only after the line has been declared "HOT" by the Range Officer. Your weapon must be pointed down range or in a safe direction at all times. All firing will be done while seated at the shooting table.

  4. No one will go down range, or go forward of the firing line, until all weapons are in the rack and the Range Officer has declared the line "SAFE".

  5. All shooters must be 18 years of age, unless accompanied and supervised by an adult.

  6. The consumption of any alcoholic beverage at the range is strictly forbidden. No one will be allowed on the range if, in the opinion of the Range Officer, he is intoxicated or otherwise incapable of following these safety rules.

  7. All shooters are responsible for their own weapons and related equipment.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Department Rifle & Pistol Range is made available to the public in order to provide a safe and convenient location to enjoy firearms activities. The above listed rules have been implemented with the safety of the shooter in mind. Any violation of these rules may result in expulsion from the range.
