Chief Deputy Tony Bacala is a lifelong resident of Ascension Parish. He is a graduate of East Ascension High School in 1975 and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from LSU in 1982. He is a graduate of numerous law enforcement training programs including the LSU Law Enforcement Institute, the Mississippi Command College, and the F.B.I. National Academy.
Chief Deputy Bacala began his law enforcement career as a patrolman with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office in 1977. In 1980, he was promoted to detective and rose through the ranks of the Detective Division. In 1988, he was promoted to the rank of captain and was placed in charge of the Detective, Juvenile, and Narcotics divisions. In 1996, while holding the rank of Major, he was placed in charge of the Sheriff’s Office Civil Division and was trusted with the financial oversight of the department. In 2000, Bacala was promoted to his current position of Chief Criminal Deputy.
Chief Bacala is a member of the Board of Directors of the Ascension parish Sales and Use Tax Authority, he is an appointed member of the Ascension Industrial Development board, and an officer of the Louisiana Chapter of the FBI National Academy Associates.
Chief Bacala is married to Lisa Faucheux Bacala who is employed by the Ascension Parish School Board and spent many years as a teacher and assistant principal at East Ascension High School. Lisa is currently the Supervisor of Secondary Education for Ascension Parish. Together they have three children and three grandchildren, with another on the way.
